Florence Freund Tells Club of Travels The surprise program planned for last Monday's me.eting of the Business and Profes'5ional Women's club in which each member was to have h~d a part, was postponed to some future date. · Mrs. Florence K. Freund who has just returned from a moto; trip was asked to give a talk on her ad~ ventures. Starting from· Niles Center when the roads were ice covered and reaching the clear place'5 was an adventure in itself. Mrs. Freund de lighted her audience with a whimsical description of the thorough inspection of "Li~coln 's Birt~place," the only part of whtch resembling the guide books was the "sky lighted attic." On leavincr the place, the travelers found that the~ were only a mile and a half away from the object of their pilgrimage. The Kentucky Caves and Stone Mom~tain in Georgia were interestingly de5cnJ?ed by Mrs. Freund. Florida old St. Augustine, Palm Beach Miami' tales of recent floods as told b; inhabi~ tant~ of the affected region, were vividly pictured. . Peard, a charter member of the Wilmette Garden club, in the last issue of the Bulletin of the Woman's club of Wilmette, in an interesting report on conservation which she made for the civics department of the Woman's club. wrote of two projects that are under way to add to the number of Illinois bird ··5anctuaries and to save our bird and plant life; theo one to save the \Vaukcgan Moorlands by creating a dunes park along the . lake front from near \Vaukegan to the Wiscon 5in state line. the other to save Robert Ridg\\'ay's "Bird Haven," the sanctuary for wi ld life, which Mr. Ridgway offered to deed to an organization by which it wou ld be preserved.
