It is hoped that every league will be represented. Robert W. Townley, athletic director at the Joseph Sears school, Kenilworth, and Miss Gertrude Herrick, assistant in the Joseph Sears physical education department, attended the sixteenth annual convention of the Midwest Society of Physical Education at the Morrison hotel, Chicago, April 24, 25, 26, and 27. T. Oratorical Contest ] ohn Betak, of Winnetka, New Trier senior, won the high school oratorical contest for New Trier students last week, and will have his name engraved on the large silver loving cup given in 1924 by Chester E. MacLean, New Trier debate coach, in memory of his brother, Alexander R. MacLean, former coach of debate at the Beloit, Wis., high school. The contest was said to be a close one. Ray Ringson took second place and ] eanette Wald, third. Frederick E. Clerk, of New Trier High school, stating that "through an error in our office, the name of Robert Simmons was left off of the list of names for the honor society at New Trier High school." Mr. Clerk states that Robert made an outstanding record, placing him well toward the top of the boys who did succeed in making the honor society. The New Trier High school office regrets the error. Alfred Romig Wins Third in District Oratory Meet Alfred Romig, New Trier High school's representative in the district elimination oratorical contest held at Evanston last week, won third place. Five high schools-New Trier, Evanston, Deerfield, Waukegan, and Loyola academy-took part in the cont~st, which was won by Loyola.
