'l.'eatro Leading Roles in Picture at T eatro An excellent cast of stage-trained stars enact the . comedy melodrama, "The Dummy," now showing at the Teatro del Lago. Ruth Chatterton, who was one of the leading stage stars before she became associated with Emil J annings in his recent success, "Sins of the Fathers," has proved her ability in talking moving pictures in Paramount's "The Doctor's Secret." Frederic March was playing in the stage success, "The Royal Family," when he was induced to accept an important role in 11 The Dummy." The story of the film deals with a group of kidnapers and a smart. office boy who outwits them by playing deaf and dumb. With the brilliant, dazzling role of a beautiful, dance-mad daughter of old Mextco to occupy her versatile talents, Lupe Yelez never had a better opportunity in any production to be "just herself" than she has in the part-talking thriller, "Wolf Song," coming to the Teatro this Sunday, May 12, for a two-day run. Featured with Gary Cooper, striking hero of "Lilac Time," "The Legion of the Condemned" and other famous productions; and Louis Wolheim, "hard-boiled" character actor, Miss Velez plays a part which is in effect a reincarnation of her own life. She dances and sings with the same fervor which brought her a part in a theatrical production in Mexico City when she was but a child and which ultimately brought her to fame on the ' screen. Gold Rush Film A cast of fifty well-known screen players, fifteen thousand extra people. one thousand dogs and a large amount of livestock were used in the filming of "The Trail of '98," great northern film taken from the famous Robert W. Service tale, which, with sound synchronization and a surrounding sound program. will he presented at the Teatro del Lago Tuesday and W ednesday, May 14 and 15. The Klondike gold rush furnishes the background for the picture. Leading roles are taken by Ralph Forbes, Dolores del Rio. Harry Carey, Karl Dane, Tully Mar shall. a1 1tl more than three dozen other players. A hilarious farce comedy of the mix-ups that follow a young man's sailing for a sea voyage under an assumed name in place of a friend, is coming to the Teatro Thursday, May lfi, for a run of three days, when "Clear the Decks," Reginald Denny talk film is to be shown. The picture was adapted from the popular novel, "~rhen the Devil \.\'as Sick," by F.. ] . Rat h . Evening· During Week Doon Open 6:3 o--Show Start· 7 p. m.
