May 24, 1929 WILMETTE LIFE Poppy Day Items When the Union league sponsored an "Ode to the Flag" contest last February in the suburban high scho~ls first place was given to Harriet Dunning a senior at Proviso. The conclusion of her ode · is particularly significant at this time of the year, when our thoughts turn in reverence to the flag and those soldiers who gave their health or life to it: New Trier's Band Presents Annual Concert Wednesday The 160-piece New Trier High school band will give its semi-annual concert Wednesday night, May 29, at 8:15 o'clock in the New Trier auditorium. The band is directed by J. C. Schumacher. Twenty saxophones, between fifty and sixty clarinets, sixteen cornets, fourteen sousaphones, -three baritones, twelve trombones, one sarrusaphone, one bass clarinet, two alto clarinets, two fluegel horns, and seven percus3ion instruments make up the band.
