The picture is an adaptatibn of a serial by Lucian Cary, which appeared in a weekly periodical. It is svnchronized but is not an all-talker. ~ . William Haine s plays the part of Duke Wellington, prize fight er. Only one fight ·ties between Wellington and the championship. The fighter has been so busy training and fighting that he hasn't had time to go to college. Accompanied by his trainer, a part played by Karl Dane, Wellington boards a train, where he entounters Susie Corbin (Joan Crawford) , one of a gay group on their way to Sierra college. Mr. Wellington immediately concludes that he does need college to round him out. The result s of this decision may be seen on the 1\'orshore screen. The stage show at the N onhore next week will be "Chinatown," with Lou Kosloff and the Jazz Collegians. Joseph Schildkraut. because of his work in "Show Boat." will be elevated to Universal stardom following completion of one more picture with Laura LaPlante. Neil Hamilton and Chester Conklin will have featured roles in "Studio Murder Mystery." now being filmed by Paramount. A bout Modern Youth Lovers of Booth Tarkington's stories will be delighted with the fidelity of adherence to the author's version of modern youth which marks Pathe's picturi zation of "Geraldine," which will be shown at the Teatro del Lago this Saturday, May 25. Eddie Quillan, a s the wise-cracking, witty, and wistful Eddie Abel of the film, is said to be the average effervescent American youth. Marion Nixon, in the title role, catches faithfully the spirit of American girlhood, with its hardly blamable desire to be sophi sticated and charming at an y price. George Bancroft will · be heard as well as seen for the first time at the Teatro del Lago next Thursday and Friday, May 30 and 31, when the Paramount all-talking picture, "The \Volf of Wall Street," is to be shown.
