GRADUATES FORTY-TWO L-------------------~ (Contributed by the \Vilmette Garden Club) Now is the time of year when th.e foresighted gardener who planted hts own seeds a \vhilc back has the pleasure of being generous to his less industrious friends. And it is a · great pleasure to take a a friend to the seed beds and say, "Have you plenty of cosmos? I can give you all of the se plants that you can use." It is a pleasure to show to one's friend many small flat frames spread out at the back of the house fil1ed with voung plants of your own raising. Th~ friend who has none, is more than pleased to receive these welcome additions to hi s garden. And as all gardeners are generous he goe$ home and returns with some plants of his own that ht thinks the other P ~ ight like. This garden exchange continues all summer. For later, when tlfe') garden is in full bloom flowers are given in-{itead of plants Th e garden exchange ; a fri endly custom and a very old one.
