MicHIGAN CHICAGO AvE. EVANSTON This region is the nearest to W~n nct~G and is therefore the o~e on whtch the attention of the commtttee should f1rst be concentrated. Much attention has already been given to this problem, and plans already formulated by the Advisory committee of the Cook County Forest Preserve commissioners contemplate the inclusion in forest preserves and · parks of at least the main thread of the water course throughout its extent in Cook county. The committee believes that the full support of the public shoulq be given to this program, and that the largest possible acreage of the Skokie valley and marsh should be set aside in forest preserve and village and townsh!P parks. 'l'h'e ·committee regrets that m certain instances plans have been revised providing for a narrower strip of forest preserve than contemplated in the original plans. The committee believes that no obstacles or discouragement in litigation or court decisions should prevent the early acquisition by public authorities of lands in this area. The dense population which will inevitably establish itself along the narrow strip between the lake and the Skokie will ultimately make abundant use of the largest park and forest preserve ·acreage which the most optimistic plans now contemplate setting aside. The problem of the development of these lands is at the present time entirel.y s· e condary to the problem of the acquisition of a sufficient acreage. Early attention, however, must be given to the problem of preventing the pollution of the waters of the Skokie. Attention should also be given to the problem of handling flood waters in The Skokie ----- After Inventory 20% Discount on all photographs made in our studio in the month of January. JosEph D.
