It will cover Winnetka, Hubbard Woods, Indian Hill, Glencoe and Northfield, and will also cooperate with the associations of Evanston, Wilmette and Highland Park. The offices of the association will remain at 522 Center street, Winnetka. and the following are the officers and directors: William T. Wersted., Winnetka, president; W. E. Zick, Hubbard \\roods, first vice-president; H. C. Hyslop, \Vinnetka, second vice-president: B. G. Eberle. Winnetka, . secretary; J. P. Colligan, business manager. The vVinnetka Credit Men's a sociation was organized in 1927 by the \Vinnetka Chamber of Commerce, which has a membership at present of two hundred busine ss and professional firms in \Vinnetka, Hubbard Woods. Indian Hill, Glencoe and Northfield. It has in its files something like 15,000 reference cards, which are brought down to date at the end of each tP.onth, that business men ma,· be furnished up-to-date informatiot1, at any time, rcganling the "pay ·habits" of an_y certain resident. The a ssoc iation coo.perates with other Credit :Men's associations along the north shore. The association announces that it also operates a department whereby it helps its members to collect past due accounts, working in conjunction with the National association. The primary purpose of a Credit association, it is pointed out, is to make credit business desirable and profitable. It seeks to protect the person who pays promptly, thereby establishing a good credit record and enabling him t.') secure credit at any time and in any locality. The credit record which anyone makes here, it is explained. not only e~tablishes his credit in thi s community, but everywhere. The reputation made here will be reported to the association inquiring from a distance. In order to maintain a satisfactorY credit record, every bill contract:ed during the month should be paid by the tenth of the following month, the association explains. "Good credit is a golden possession." is a worth while motto. the association believes. It carries with it influence. prestige, confidence, honor, faith, tru~t and esteem. It has always been the custom along the north shore to grant more or less credit. It is a ·c onvenience to the residents, and business houses do not wish to refuse credit to those who have been in the habit of taking care of their obligations promntly.
