E. Davis of Liberty- ville. We had no personal acquain~ tance with her, but her husband we have known several years as one of the. prominent and promising young men in that part of the county. To him and his bereaved family we ex- tend our heartfelt sympathy. We never knew the year when there vas such a demand for houses and board as this season. Not all are ï¬lled. for there were never so many to rent in any other season. What is more noteworthy still about the matter is the fact that the great majority of these. calls are from people who are drawn here by the golf grounds. That game of golf seems to have such a strange fascin- ation that these, people can't resist. That is what the opening of these grounds is doing for the Park. Our readers have noticed the scheme. so prominent this week in the Chicago papers. for west siders to pay their street car fares in pen: nies. in revenge for the companies taking off the sale of tickets from i the cars. The scheme. a sharp and ‘ effective one to bring the company to terms. is creating quite an excite nwnt on the west side. Did you know it all started from a Highland Park n-sldent who owns property on the west side 2’ Well. it did: and be is enjoying the fun.
