It seems to us these folks are biting Satan's bare hook, for of all empty pretenses it takes the cake. P'Asron Rabh preached an excellent sermon Sunday morning on the “Power of the Christ." The points discussed Were, prophecy proclaim- ed him the Messiah with power; Christinnity's lmginninga were simill and feeble. but became mighty in development. and third its power is wholly spiritual. He said many churches and many Christians Were seeking to build on social distinctions and qualiï¬cations, only to fail. For church work and success he rather have one godly woman, though she earned her daily bread over thewash tul). than twenty'tive society ladies with cold selï¬sh hearts. The mention of the “Green Moon. tain Boy" for mayor was the most popular suggestion ever made in the News Men gathere‘gou the street corners to talk about ; atleast, two men wertseen to gather on the old post ofï¬ce corner by Dunn’s store, and one gathered on McDonald's cor- ner, and all talked about something. Their faces genre wreathed in smiles as though they were pleased and we are sure it was the prospect of the Boy for mayor. One or two men are reported to have vowed~ they would not be shaved or have their hair out till the “Boy" iselect‘ed. This excites the harbors, for if this movement becomes general it will hurt their business. The city council may be petitioned for an early election, so as to relieve the tension and give busi- ness a boom. We are credibly informed that the aldermen are practically unanimous in favor of the “Boy". at least there can’t be more than seven or eight opposed to him. Everylxxly seems to recognize the fact that nothing since the opening of the electric railroad has given such a promise of business and social improvment as the candidacy of the “Green Moun- tain Boy." We will now let the “Boy" rest till after the holidays. Meanwhile he stands, seven days in the week on the same old broad, solid sound timbemd platform, and has _a few more good plank in bib politicill lumber loft to be added if necessaiy. The “Boy†is on deck for the public good and not for any personal or clique ends. A POPULAR HOVE.
