The deceased was the eldest child of Hr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Gilbert, and born in Houghton November 24, 1874. His mother was the daughter of the late Ransom Sheldon, and. died when he was but sixyeara old. Shortly after this the family moved‘to .Illlnoil. The lat- ter settled in Winnetha.
