There .was a meeting held at the resident-la of Mr. F. Dunstan Todd, South avenue, Friday evening, for - the purpose offorminga literary and; ' entertainment eociety.‘ The young ladies’ missionary BO- ciety will‘ hold its annual meeting this, Saturday, afternoon at the home of Miss Elizabeth Saunders, Sheri- dan ‘Ruad. ‘ ' A special meeting of‘the coun'cil was held January 3151:. An otdenwas made for. the pars» ment to Cape Sons, contractors for improvement of Green Bay Roqd, of balance due them for work complet- ed, about $3726, Ivhich had been withheld pending some formalities due to the need of having consent cf the C. M. E. Railway Co. and of a pmjety mmpany. ’ This payment leaves in the hands of the village about a thousand dollars, which En- gineer Windes estimates is euï¬cient to complete the work. If it should prove insufï¬cient, the balance requir- ed will be paid by the Electric Co. An order was made to tranhfer frumitbe’general {mid to the Sheri. GL'ENCOI COUNCIL. dun Bond fund (Special 116.) 8414. 39, this being the Shire of thnl unauâ€" ment hit! on the village by the com mission" for “ general bone..- †which former councils had neglected to pay as the installments dame duo. An order was then made that the balance remaining in the Sheridan Road land he rebated. The rebate achedule had been partly prepared and will be completed at once. so that the village will be ready to be- gin payment of this rebate by the time‘thie notice is in print. The die- tribntion is nine and oneqnarter per cent on the aaeeeement, the amount distributed being a little short of 32400. ‘ An order was made to repay to the rebate fund a balance of 8150 from the water fund. In August 1896, $700 was temporarily borrowed from the'rebate fund to buy enough ‘me- ters to put the water supply on a rileter basis. The trensfer of this $150 from the water fund completes the restoration oi that loan'. ‘ Touching the request of Winnetka to have payments for water made quarterly and at diï¬erent periods from those now ï¬xed in the contract between the two‘villages for ,semi- annual payments, Mr. Park, from the water committee, reported that the change would entail considerable in- convenience on‘ Glencoe, inasmuch as the water collections and accounts were adjusted to the periods ï¬xed in the contract. On the: opmmittee’a recommendation the request was de- clined. ' An order was made to dispense with the oï¬ca of village attorney from this date. Mr Perk moved that the president appoint a committee of two to which that ofï¬cial should be added. to take the necessary legal advice with full power to make contract with Engineer Windes of Winnetka to prepare plans for a _ sewer system and for the establishment of grades for? road, sidewalk improvements and water- pipe extensions. This motion was agreed'to; and the chair appoint- ed Messrs. Calhoun and King, to act with himself as such committee. 1 Adjourned to regular meeting Feb. 6th. ’
