Burglars eluded the guard of sol- diers around Fort Sheridan and, breaking into the barracks of Cour pany H, Twenty-ninth infantry, at Fort Sheridan,oarried a trunk into an adjacent ravine, where they rifled it of its contents. The trunk belonged to First Sergeant Francis Webster. The burglars contenwd themselves with stealing several gold and silver medals which Sergeant Webster had won for marksmanship. The trunk was in the orderly room of the com- pany and the barracks are within a short distance of the guardhouse, where the regular army guard is maintained. Among the medals taken were: , One gold medal depart- ment first prize, one gold distin- guished marksman badge. one silver army team medal, one silver depart- mentrteam medal, and several small badges. The rifled trund was found the next day by Sergeant Webster in the ravine. He has offered a re- ward for the return oi the medal. The barracks were filled with mem- bers of the Twenty-ninth regiment. but‘none of them were disturbed by the burglars. The theft was re- ported to Colonel Van Horne. FUNERAL 0F MRS. HORRISON.
