He had suffered from a heart difficulty for several years and gave up goixig to his Chime business some months ago.. But of late he had appeared better and his family and friends, as we all do in similar circumstances, were very hopeful of his recovery. ‘ But, while he was sitting in his easy chair, after his morning meal, [Mm Labor noticed a slight change. and went to him and while standing 4 by' his chair his physical life passed out as gently as a; child falling into a sleep. Tbére was no struggle, no pain, in facthe had been wholly. free from the physical- suffering inci- dent to his sickness,r for a long timevwhich isa great source of comfort to his family. ' Mr. Lashex Was born in Wal- worth, Wayne county, New York, some five and iwenty miles east of Rochester, in 1842. He mceived a thorough clussic education at Charlotteville. N. She was a perfect picture of health and died after a very few hours illness. It was a 'blow from which he never re- covered, and -one felt keenly by the entire community. The fat er five children, Grace Adele nd young Ramsdell, eleven years d. with their Vmother, survive Lasher. The one 'trait of his character which most deeply in:- pressed one was his extreme fond- ness for his family and his home; His heart and life seemed cen.‘ tel-ed in their highest good. The funeral was‘ held Tuesday noon .at his late residence, and was conducted by the Christian Science society, with which he has been. identified during the ilast year, and from _ hom he had lrec‘eived - great pm Mrs; Dana Sweetlaud, of this city, read appropriate selections from. the scriptures, including the twenty; third psalm, and also from Mrs. Eddy’s book, “Science and Health.” Miss Alta Miller, of Evanston, sang two hymns, “Adids With Me,” and “O’er Waiting Harpstrings of the Hindi?
