BLINOOI. In many respects the interests of the resident populntion in the villages ind towns along the north shore between Evanston and Waukcgln are identical. We are interested in the same Great Sheridan Road highway, in the same railway and electric roads. Our interest. are identi- cal in the summer music and pleasure park at Ravinia and we are intimately associated in all that can contribute to .the nat- ural beauties of our great lake 1;: one particular, at least. we believe that we can offer a better facilityforinterchange of thought and interests than is otherwise available. We do not pretend to compete with the daily newspaper press for general newsâ€"and this is not at all needed. What we think is needed is a live, intelligent, ap- preciation of all subjects that are peculiarly interesting to. people along this north shoreâ€"a weekly paper that shall give a distinct place to each town, village or city, furnishing items of social, domestic, religious or political affairs, andso present them that they will promote interchange- able and neighborly interests. \ The people of these towns have certain literary, artistic and mu- sical tastes. These must be dis- covered, reported, _and encour- The News-Letter does not ex- pect fo accomplish its ideal of a high-class local journal in the course of a few weeks. But it has made a beginning , and this week makes its ï¬rst bow to the people of Glencpe. Next week we 'shall publish a full page of special features of Glencoe and most cor- dially invite all thecitizens to share in that number. Trial subscriptions will be re- ceived for the rest of this year to Dec. 81, 1907, at 50 cents. \Or- ders may be sent by postal card 'and our agent will call.
