The freight station itself is a poor ornament for the heart of the city: and heavy traffic to and from the unloading platform has made First street between Central avenue and Elm place a block of ruts and mud puddles. The crossing at Elm place is so rough that it is all but impassable for automobiles. Mud from the freight yards is continually carried out into First street and Elm place. An effort is being made to move the freight yards south of Elm place. and out of the center of town. it is hoped that this will be done before the promised new pavement in First street is built next yeai.
