March 21, in New York. from the effects of an operation for appendicitis. Mr. and Mrs. Lawson. the latter formerly Miss Marie Cobb. have many friends here in Highland Park 'where they were married fourteen years ago. They re- sided in Washington. D. C. during the time Mr. Lyman J. Gage was secretary of the treasury and Mr. Lamson was associated with him. Afterwards he went to New York when; he went into business and has resided'ever since. The funeral services were opened by Rev. Peter C. Wolcott. Rector of Trinity Episcopal church. followed by a deputa- tion from the General George H. Thomas. Post G. A. R. of Chicago, who gave the solemn Ritual of that body. The exer- cises included the reading of Comrade Mihills’ army record. After each veteran had stepped forward and with appropriate words placed a symbolic offering upon the casket, all joined in rendering two well chosen hymns and closed their im- pressive and beautiful tribute wilh‘ a prayer by their chaplain. Mihills. for 21 years a resi- dent of our city. died at his home, 529 Forest Ave. early Sunday morning, March 22. at the age of '72 years. He was born in Medina. Ohio and was a veteran of the Civil War. beinga member of the George H. Thomas Post. G. A. R., and the Royal Legion. Funeral services were held at the family residence.
