Age 91; resident of Presbyterian Home in Evanston IL; born in Evanston to John Meigs Butler and Margaret Converse Butler and grew up in Evanston and Winnetka IL and Marion MA; graduated from The Hotchkiss School in 1937 and Yale U. in 1941; lieutenant in The Coast Guard in WWII, insturctor at The Coast Guard Academy, served as captain of LST in Pacific; August 16, 1947 married at The Presbyterian Church in Wilmette IL, resided in Winnetka; 2006 moved to Evanston; 1947-58 President of Roberton Manufacturing Company; worked in industrial real estate, market research and business consulting; at retirement, Vice President of The Winnetka Bank; volunteer on Winnetka Planning Commission, Winnetka Library Board, Child and Family Services, Nortran Board, Winnetka Yacht Club, New Trier H.S. archive office, North Shore Senior Center; vestryman and Sunday School teacher at Christ Church; Winnetka Citizen of the Year from Winnetka Chamber of Commerce; preceded in death by his son, John M.
