Resident of the Vi in Glenview IL, formerly of Hinsdale and Winnetka; born in Hyde Park IL, only child of John William Embree Jr. and Alberta Louisa Searles; attended U. of Chicago Laboratory School, Deefield Academy and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1950; served from 1943-46 in U.S. Army during WWII as staff sergeant in 71st Division of Patton's Third Army; worked with father and grandfather in family business, Rittenhouse & Embree Lumber Company in Chicago, president in 1970 and expanded to Antioch and Frankfort (sold in 1983); sang in Kenilworth Union Church choir for 33 years; married 2nd wife, Mary (mother of three young girls) after death in 1968 of his 1st wife, Rae (mother of his five children) - Date of Publication
