Age 87; born in Iowa and grew up in Toledo, Ohio; earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the U. of Toledo followed by one year of law school; served 3+ years in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a lieutenant boat group commander in the Pacific; married in 1944; entered the automotive industry in 1946 in Toledo, moved to Chicago in 1964 joining Hunter Publishing Company; in 1984 received the Triangles Award presented by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association; a generous philanthropist, an early supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital, also the U. of Chicago, Steppenwolf Theater Company, WTTW, the Union League Club's Boys and Girls Club, the U. of Toledo and St. Norbert Roman Catholic Church; received many awards including Humanitarian of the Year by both the Phoencian Club of Chicago and the Midwest Foundation of the American Syrian-Labanese Club, Man of the Year by the St. Philip Eastern Orthodox Church, Lifetime Achievement Award of the Arab-American Business and Professional Association, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor - Date of Publication
