About 16 years ago she came to Highâ€" land Park and made her home here until about three years ago when the family moved to Milwaukee. Last June they moved to Evanston. Mrs. Merriman leaves to mourn her. loss, her husband, Thomas P. Merâ€" riman and a daughter Margaret Ver< onica Merriman, of Evanston; two daughters, Mrs. Maud Elliott of Milâ€" waukee, and Mrs. Portia Rafferty of Evanston, and a son, Ossel Sheafor of Highland Park and Pasadena, chilâ€" dren of her‘first marriage. » _ She was a member of the Royal Neighbors éf America and made many friends among the "ngighbors." Rice, wife of Luâ€" cian Rice, 632 Onwentsia avenue, died Monday from acute peritonitis, acâ€" cording to the physician‘s certificate of death. ; &A Mrs. Rice was born Dec. 15, 1854, at Windsor, O., and had resided in Highland Park about 37. years. . She is survived by her husband and one son, Elson G. Rice. $‘ousgbhed The funeral service was, held at 8 o‘clock Tuesday afternoon, at ‘the H. M. Prior company‘s chapel, and. the body was taken to Orwell, O., for inâ€" terment. 1 {i8 Mrs. Rice‘s many friends in this community sincerely mourn her pagsâ€" ing, and their ,heartfelt sympathy is extended the sorrowing husband and Mrs. Rice was educated at the Orâ€" well Normal Institute and became a very successful school teacher. On Sept. 16, 1875 she was married to Lucian J. Rice of Brooklyn, N. Y. but formerly of Orwell, their native town. liss Last Sept. 16 was the golden anniâ€" versary of ‘their happy wedlock, marked by all those graces which conâ€" stitute a real happy home. j ‘She was a member of the Baptist church and a constant attendant when able, also a charter member of the W.
