PAGE TWO The Higbland Park Press Entered as Second Class matter March 1, l’ll.ltthpflto‘ultfli‘w Park, Tilinois, under the Act of March 8, 1879. % $ The springtime is the season of housecleaning. Formerly this was practiced only by the ambitious housewife, but now municipal spring cleanups have become quite the thing. The practice is a good one and should be made universal. Nearly ever{_henterprislng city and town now has a spring cleanup campaign, e trash an other accumulations of winter are carried away and things are made spick and span for the approaching summer. â€" ; _ ts ‘~ Unfortunately, however, in many communities the spd.gs cleanup is confined almost entirely to the residential districts, an the business districts are apt to be neglected. ‘The residential disâ€" tricts of nearly all of our American cities and towns are now beauâ€" tiful. The average American is either a homeowner or is anxious to become one, and so takes a great deal of pride in his house and its surroundings. EA.akt t at i ts â€"â€"The same Pride ought to be exercised in regard to the business districts. A few weeks ago Kansas City, through its real estate board, started a campaign to clean up and,.renovate the business district. Kansas City is noted the country over as a community of beautiful homes and is now ambitious to have the same thing said about its business district. ~And in fact there is no reason why the business district of the average city and town should not be as attractive in its way as the residential sections. It would be easier to do more business and better business in more attractive surroundings. And it must be admitted that, with few notable exâ€" (e]epg(;lna, our business districts have not kept pace with our resiâ€" ential areas. Among the citations which comâ€" prised the sermon was the following pertinent selection from the Bible: "There is therefore now no condemnaâ€" tion to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sans of God." (Romans 8:1, 12%, 14). The Golden Text was from Jereâ€" migah 24:7, "I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for theyâ€"shall return unâ€" to me with their whole heart." Also a corresponding passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Sciâ€" ence and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "We must form perfect models in thought and look at them continually or we shall never carve them out in grand and noble lives, â€" Let unselfishâ€" ness, goodness, mercy, justice, health, holiness, loveâ€"the kingdom of heaven â€"â€"reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear‘" (p, 248). * ~THE HIGHLAND PARK PRESS, HIGHLAND PARK, ILLINOIS a se @riere o0 00e t Henry C.Llf]m?)t@gn 6 Son# in Abe oi dn age 18 Sepememaiint oo ui9 cimre STATE and JACKSONâ€"Chicago & 0 0 0 000000 00 0008000 0 0 8 0 0 08 0000000 0 0 o 6 0 o a o a o o e ‘North avenue and Lauretta place â€" Friday, May 21.
