Already they are planning how to decorate bicycles and doll bug- tries and plans for Boats are well under way. All the children will meet in Sunset Woods on the mom- ing of the.28th and march from there to their position in the parade.. Summ"er time is or should be vaca- tion time for school children. Sunset Park affords as good a vacation for them as you could wish. The fact that there were 200 children at the park on Monday Uternoon is proof that Sunset Park is an asset to High- land Park. .' On Monday evenings the swimmers club takes a plunge in Lake Michigan On Wednesdays the same group plays games at the park and if a cool eve- ning they fool the mosquitoes by build- ing a fire then sing songs in peace. They also plan to lay out a lawn ten- nis court this week so you who have- n't been up this year, dust " your racket and give the court a trial. Did you ever realize that you can find personality and socialization in a sand pile? Come up and watch the future neighbors as they live close together in the sand box, shar- ing pails and shovels as they work their “air castles" of sand. How many of you Highland Park people Knott-just where Sunset Park is located? And those of you who do know, have ever seen it? You won't know what you are missing un- til you pay us a visit. Recently a new wading pool has been added to the grounds. Not just a common wading pool but one of real beauty. And what's more, it is cleaned daily and is a safe place for your child to play. Nothing can be more grateful than this on a hot day. On Monday 55 kiddies were in the pool at one time and their antics alone expressed their appreciation. Teter-totter, swings, merry-go- rounds and a wading pool for the little tots; folk danving. sewing and games for the girls; ball games, group games and harmonizing lessons for the boys; swimming parties, tennis, and volley ball for the older group- all at Sunset Park playground. Rethberg's voice combined with its tonal beauty; makes her ideal as Sar- dou's heroine in which she must rise to climax after climax, and one can readily imagine themanndr in which this singer will render the immortal "Vise d'arte," one of the greatest of operatic arias. Me. Johnson is likewise admirably endowed to bore tray Cavardossi, in which singing and acting are demanded in equal propor- tions and the hero must make.an im- pression every instant. With Giusep- pe Danise as Scarpia, there is much to look forward to. It is a matter of pride that this artist added this role to his 'repertoire " Ravinia some seasons ago, and he has been tre- mendously successful in it ever since. Mr. Denise possesses the art of bel canto singing in unlimited degree and he has hit own way of presenting the villainous“ Scarpiawin which he sets him forth as a polished gentleman of evil nature. Pageant for Children Thursday afternoon, July 29, will be a red-letter day for the children, this bringing the annual carnival and pageant under the direction of Miss Bertha Hes. This year the pageant is entitled "The History of Chicago†and scores of children will participate. The carnival will bring forth a variety of attractive costumes, artistic group- ings and dances. It 'will be held on the north campus. All children 12 .s'ears of age or under will be admit- ted free to the carnival. Seats are free for everyone.
