Bentiment? And what would | life Bbe without such dreams*? â€" These thoughts pass through our minds ‘as we pause in front of the paintings of the sea, done by William Ritschel, who in times past has given us such wonderful canâ€" vases of the spirit ‘of the sea as shown along the California coast. _ You sense the | gallapt struggle these gnarled monarchs are making as they bend beneath the trade winds and thrust their branches out in desâ€" pairing gestures. Then there is the derelict, riding in the trough of the sunsget sea, with a world of loneliness expressed in the abandoned, shipâ€" wrecked vessel. °â€" A stormy, rock bound ¢odast is seen in No, 1, which hangs on the west wall. Here the anger of the sea is sensed, as the storm gathers force. The sullen sky is grayed twn to one solid color, as threatening as an angry gather with m birch whip. You cah see the repressed bogom of the ocean as it shrinks under the lash of the wind and sends up little whimpers of protest, voiced in stinging spray. And No. 9, showing some .of the storm beaten cypress tresg of the west coast, has a quality in it of restrained color that is real art. 6 4 Canvasses of William Ritschel Now Exhibited Fascinating Glimpses of Life on Ocean Wave is great vessel, one feels, is shooting ahead with tremendous energy. < On either side of this painting Ritchel shows likenesses of ‘girls: native to the South Sea Islands, dusky beauties scantily clothed, yet living in a land of vivid color. ; + ' His exhibition of some twentyâ€"three pictures opened at the‘ Art Instittite Tuesday last and will be continued until January 24. Of the paintings the one showing the great sailing ship plowing through a school of porpoises is remarkable for this feeling of freshâ€" ness, for the feeling of a certain tang in the salt air which fills the bellying sails to the bursting point, The painter has achieved a remarkâ€" able sense ofâ€"a forward and‘upward movement in this picture, for the 50¢ Pipe and Can of Your Favorite 3 for Gem Shaving Outfit Both for ... â€"FREEâ€" Surprise Package Eveready ~Shaving Set $2.50 value ... ......_.% Jergen‘s Toilet Soap 9 bars to the boxs...
