First Troop to Register Troop 33, of the Lincoln school, gained prominence last week as the first troop to register for camp Maâ€" Kaâ€"Jaâ€"Wan and made a fine start toâ€" wards securing the camp enrollment award, â€" recently m ade available through the north shore area council, when nine members of the troop regâ€" istered for first period and. several of them for additional periods. Troop 33 will be in camp the first period, fvom July 6 to. July 21, under the direction of Llioyd Wightman, asâ€" sistant scoutmaster, who will be at the camp for the full period. Plans are underconsideration at present to take the troop to camp by car rather than by railroad as this will furnish a finer trip in many ways. _ With the nine scouts of Troop 33 now registered the troop has 36 per cent enrolled for camp and only fas to register four more to earn the camp enrollment award which they are working for. Fred Reichardt has registered for first and serond periods while Judson Wells will be in camp all three periods. Milis of the national staff earned the American Red Cross senior life saving examinors badges. This will qualify him to give ‘Red Cross life saving~ examinations at camp this. summer. This aquatic directors group also got many helpful ideas on canoeâ€" ing, boating, and life guard work. This camp was led by several men from national staff and other regional men. ~There were over one hundred leaders taking the training. They slept on theâ€"ground in different type of tents and cooked the evening meals in the open thereby gaining practical experience in camping.
