" _ James Bowden was born Nov. 14, 1854, in England. He came to Chiâ€" cago shortly after the great fire of 1871 and the following year he settled in Highland Park, which was thenceâ€" forth his home. About six years ago he made a trip to England to revisit his boyhood home for the first time in more than half a century. The Family He was married 48 years ago, in Libertyville, to Miss Ellen Moran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Moran, pioneer residents of that vilâ€" lage.â€"Mrs. Bowden survives, and ‘also Masonic lodge escorted the remains to the North Shore cemtery, where they had charge of the ceremonies, and where interment took place. The pall bearers were William J. Obee, Fred Obee, W. E..Cummings, George Tucker, Fred Tucker and Harry Clow. On May 17, 1928, while confined to his home by iliness, Mr. Bowden gave his son, George Bowden the list:‘ of oldâ€"â€"{friendsâ€"andâ€"businessâ€"associates . Death Was Sudden ' â€" Mr. Bowden‘s death was very sudâ€" den. He had been in poor health for several years, but last Thursday he seemed better than. usual. . _He was sitting at his desk in his home. Apâ€" parently he felt coming on the heart attack which caused his death, as he rose and tried to reach another chair. Before he had accomplished his purâ€" pose the end came. There are two grandchildren, George â€" andâ€" James Bowden. Two sisters of Mr. Bowden also are living, Mrs. Elizsa Wakeâ€" ham, who for several years has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Bowden, and Mrs. Emily King who 4i i England. Five brothers and two sisâ€" ters are dead. ' Notable Masonic Record â€" Mr. Bowden was the oldest charter member of A. 0. Fay lodge, A. F. and A. M., living in Highland Park at the time of his death.> Thereé is one older charter member, Harry Obee, who lives in ‘Alhambra, Calif. Mr. Bowden received the Fellowcraft deâ€" gree Sept. 2, 1878, and the Master Mason degree Sept. 16, 1878. For 25 years he served the lodge as tylet, and in 1899 he was made a life memâ€" ber because of his faithfulness and splendid record.
