Police and firemen report a quiet week put with nothing of import- ance to report, they say. The fire- men were called out by n couple of gnu fires, and the police bod the noun] routine of speeders and drunks, but nothing worth getting gxcited about, they declare. The Lions club had J. M. Appel, president of the Highland Park State bank as their guest speaker at their regular luncheon meeting at the Green Tea Pot last Thursday noon. Mr. Appel gave them a very interest- ing and instructive talk on “Chain Banking." The Liane meet again at noon today, at the same place. Police and Firemen Report Quiet Week At the regular luncheon and meet- ing of the, Highland Park Rotary club, at noon Monday, at the Moraine hotel, Dr. C. v. Nichols was the chief speaker and devoted his talk to mem- bership problems. Nomination of candidates for directors to be elected at the tttart meeting in April was a feature of the session. Ten names were offered, and of these seven are to be elected to the board. J. M. Appel Is Speaker at Lions Club Session Dr. C. v. Nichols Talks at Rotary Club Monday Friday, March 28, at 10 a. m. the big Chicago Garden and Flower Show opens at the Hotel Sherman. Friends of the many local people who have been arranging exhibits there are eager to see the results. During the show committees of ladies from the Illinois Federation of Women's clubs will be. serving light luncheons in the tea room throughout the day. There also will be two free lectures on gardening, some of them illu- strated, given each afternoon by cap- able speakers. The exhibits are on view until Saturday night April 5. Last Meeting French Classes The last meeting of the, classes in French will be on Tuesday, April 1, at the usual time.
