Thursday, June 12, 1930 DRAINAGE DISTRICT PLANS BOND ISSUE To Call Special Election Soon; Seeks Means to Finance New Plants Plans for the erection of a. modern disposal plant on the North Flats to sorw- Waukegan, and the building of three other plants and enlargement of three pints in as many other com- munities in Lake county, including Highland Park, were drafted by the North Shore Sanitary district board in meeting inst week. The board is considering the expenditure of $1,- 500,000 in the establishment of these much needed sewage treatment plants. Largest in Waukegan The board has decided definitely on tho location of the proposed sewage disrwsal plant for Waukegan on the site of the present small plant on the North Flats. This has been done an the recommendation of the engin- eers representing the board and is mntrary to the desires of the city lui- ministration of Waukegan who has insisted that the plant be located on the lake front at the fuot of South avenue. The type of the Waukegan plant, which is to be the largest of the se- rim, has not been definitely deter. mined by the board. Two plans are Ming considered. one provides for the martian of a plant at the coat of $9,860,000 which will prbvide complete treatment for sewage. while the other plan calls for the installation of par- tial treatment of sewage in a plant (u cost $646,000.
