The usual rhrnival nttractions con- sisting of concessions, refreshments, dancing and numerous other features are scheduled for the three days. Ar. rangements are being made to get a fine orchestra for the occasion and dancing will be held each evening. On Friday morning, July 4, the Drum and Bugle corps will appear in a parade here at 10 a. m. . Plans are going ahead and are nearing completion for the annual carnival to be staged by the Duma- est] Spencer Post of the American- Legion in Sunset Park. The carnival this year will be held three days, starting Thursday, July 2 and ending Saturday evening, July 5. Viking's Hold Picnic Santi’s Grove Sunday The annual picnic given by the Vik, ine lodges, will be held Sunday, June 22 at Santi’s Grove, four miles west at Highwood. Games of all kind: with dancing will be features of the day. Good music is promised for the occasion. A large attendance is anticipated. This Clrnival promises to be one of the biggest affairs the local post has ever put on. The committee is working hard and with the co-open- tion of the public it should be a big success. The entire building will be raised to three stories by the addition of one story on the present two-story sec- tion facing Central avenue and two stories on the one-story north portion of the present building. _ Exterior Finish The exterior of the first story will be finished in black and green marble, and the remainder of the building in Redford stone. with a mansard roof of slate and tile, making one of the handsomest business structure: on the North Shore, it is expected. 3 Day Carnival to Be Staged Here July 3-5 Extensive remodeling of the North Shore Trust Co. building, corner of Sheridan road and Central avenue, which will include increase of the height to three stories throughout and entire new exterior in architec- tural style known as modern French, is being planned by the bank officials, and an idea of how the structure will look when finished is given in the picture from the architect's sketch on the cover page of this issue of the Press. W. D. Mann of Highland Park and Chicago is the architect. The Sports and Pastimes committee of the club have been busy making preparations for the day, and it is expected that there will be a bigger field than ever before. The entries thus far include some names that every golfer knows. John Hutchinson, Al and Abe Espinosa. Chick Evans and Bob McDonald, have already made their entries, and many others are expected to enter after the U. S. National Open, which is to be played off the 10th, 11th and 12th of July. The citizens of High- land Park who are interested in golf should avail themselves of this op- portunity to see some real competi- tiun. There will be $1500 offered to the winners in cash and prizes, The event was so successful last year that all expenses were met out of the re- ceipts, so the committees decided to enlarge the offering for this year.
