Thursday, July 10, 1930 courses are. missing real religious values in their daily lives. While our Sunday school is slipâ€" ping somewhat in attendance, yet it still. is away ahead of the church in this respect, and there is splendid inâ€" terest. Our superintendent, Wm. E. Bletsch, and our teachers are an un vsually faithful lot as a rule and those sending their ‘children to us may be sure they will have good atâ€" tention. Mrs. Fred Okey will be our soloist next Sunday at the church service. and her small daughter will accomâ€" pany her mother at the piano. Last Sunday Miss Faith Kuhlman sang and Mrs. Paul Downing took the place of Mr. Nichols at the piano as a slight injury to one hand incapaciâ€" tated Mr. Nichols. Des Plaines Camp Meeting An annual event which interests hundreds of church people of all denâ€" ominations is the Methodist camp meeting at the grounds adjoining Des Plaines. The 7ist session opens there this week Friday and continues through Sunday July 20. Thousands attend â€"some days as many as 50" being on the grounds, and the al .e speakers heard there include men of national reputation. . At the opening session this Friday night, Bishop E. 1. Walfdorf, of Kansas City, will be the speaker and the Mason Jubilee Singers will give a concert Saturday night of this week, a religious drama, "The Rock" will be presented by the Morgan Park players. Governor Emâ€" merson is expected to be present and speak Saturday, July 19. â€" Other speakers will be Bishops J. C. Baker, Titus Lowe and C. L. Mead and many others, Among the musical features will be the~Lindblom High School String Quartet, Johanes Koscielny, violinist; the Metropolitan Male Quarâ€" tet, a great combined choir from varâ€" jous Chicago churches and the Mason Jubilee Singers. Mr. Roland Pease, well known to all Highland Parkers, will direct the singing and sing. The admission fee to each session is mere» ly nominal and there is ample parkâ€" ing space in the extensive grounds. A large open air swimming pool is one of the attractions and a fine hotel, restaurant, lunch room, tennis courts, baseball diamonds etc., add to conâ€" venience and pleasure. _ They are over 100 permanent cottages on the grounds and a large tabernacle seatâ€" ing over 1200 people, which is filled nightly. Life, with all its strain and conâ€" fusion, quickly becomes divested of its spiritual resources unless they are steadily roplenished. You cannot take worship and prayer out of life ar l still hope to maintain your reâ€" ligion. Worship with us this Sunday. A cordial welcome.
