Joseph Luby. the clerk, was doing his daily chores at the market when three men entered the place, One of them pointed a revolver at Luby and ordered him to turn over the money to them. "Shoot an old man if you want to," Luby answered. "I won't tell you where the money is." The bandits had been in the market for ten minutes, trying to wheedle the $500, which was hidden, from Luhy when they heard a woman’s footsteps. They became alarmed and dashed out of the market just as the restaurant caretaker arrived at the market.
