Thursday, October 2, 1930 ONLY FOUR SUBURBS LOSE IN POPULATION Association of Commerce Checks Up on Census Figures of Chicago Environs Only four of the 168 urban centers in the Chicago Metropolitan area, a zone extending 35 miles from the Loop and including Cook, Du Page, Kane, Lake and Will counties in Illinois and Lake county in Indiana, showed deâ€" creases in population during the past decade, the Chicago Association of Commerce ponts out. ‘The© Meropolitan area now has & population of 4,656,639, an increase since 1920 of 1,135,184. Cook County Leads Cook .county leads with an increase of 922,284, or 32 per cent. Du Page county increased its population 43,â€" 153 and Lake county, Indiana, inâ€" creased 98,958. On the city‘s edge, 11 wards accounted for an increase of 600,000 persons.
