Of that number, Cook county had 42, 10 of which were in 1921. Cook county also had from one to eight in each of the other years listed in the tabulation excepting 1917 and 1928. Downstate Counties Downstate counties that had exeâ€" cutions during the 13 year period, were led by Will county with nine. Of these, four were held in 1928, three in 1927 and three in 1918. Lake county executed three during the peâ€" riod, all of them in 1928. Record by Counties from June 1917 {o June 1929; Lake © County Has 3 EXECUTIONS IN THIS STATE IN 12 YEARS None in 78 Counties The remaining 78 counties had no executions between July 1, 1916 and June 30, 1929, according to the tabuâ€" lation. Thirteen has been the highest numâ€" ber of legal executions in any one of the years, the report revealed. _ _ There were two executions each in Champaign, St. Clair, Vermilion and Williamson counties during the 13 years. â€" Counties that executed only one each during the â€" period were Adams, DuPage, Franklin, Gallatin, Livingston, Macon, Macoupin Madiâ€" son, Marion, Massac Morgan, Peoria, Pulaski, Rock Island, Saline, Sangaâ€" mon and White. Since the enactment in 1927, of the act that substituted electrocution at Joliet, Menard or Chicago, for hangâ€" ing in the various counties, the numâ€" ber of executions attributed to the counties in the tabulation includes convictions for which the death penâ€" alty was paid elsewhere. The three executions attributed to Lake county in 1928 were the first three electroâ€" cutions under the new law, and were conducted by state prison officials at Joliet, December 15, 1928. The first two electrocutions in Cook county‘ were on February 20, 1929. The calendar year, 1929 was the first in which electrocution served excluâ€" sively as the means of execution in the state. Several bogus ten dollar bills were discovered in Waukegan in the last week, according to information obâ€" tained from police today. As the reâ€" sult, authorities have issued a warnâ€" ing to the public to carefully inspect each bill of that denomination before accepting the money. â€" The paper money, discovered to date, is bogus treasury department legal tenders. Discovery of a bogus Bill is fairly easy with close inspection of the reâ€" verse side of the currency.â€" This has a picture of the United States Treasâ€" ury building. In front of the treasâ€" ury is an automobile. In this they resemble the ten dollar. bills issued by the government. f Bogus Ten Dollar Thursday, October 16, 1930 Bills Circulating
