P. 555 Highway Department : Posting Population of Cities on Signs Illinois‘ highway division has beâ€" gun posting the new census figures at the city limits of Illinois‘ 22 cities which have a population of between 25,000 and 100,000, Director H. H. Cleaveland of the Department of Public Works and Buildings anâ€" nounced this week: The latest census counts will be painted on the state highway signs which are located at the limits of each of the 22 cities. Fred Tarrant, engineer of maintenance, will superâ€" vise the work. He said that the new figures should be on the signs shortâ€" ly. The figures are based on announceâ€" ments made by the local census supâ€" ervisors and are subject to revision in the final official count. Population figures for cities under 25,000 and over 100,000 will be revised on state‘s highway signs as soon as correct census reports for the towns and cities in these two groups are available.
