Perfect Bone Needle Field Museum, Chicago _ Is 25,000 Years Old A perfect bone needle, some 25,000 years old, has come to Field Museum of Natural History as a result of the recent Marshall Field Archaeological Expedition to Europe, This bone needle, which is more than three in- ches in length, is complete and baa as perfect an eye as if it had been made yesterday. It was made by a prehis- torie Mairdalenian craftsman, accord- ing to Henry Field, assistant curator of physical anthropology and leader of the expedition, and it was undoubt- edly used for making clothes out of reindeer skins. Thursday, Nov, 13, 1980 The needle was excavated from In ancient rock shelter at Ganties in the south of France, where it was found among implements of flint and bone typical of the uppgr Magdalenian cul- ture. The needle was evidently lash- inned with a Bint blade and drilled by a flint borer. " It. Join. Ava-Io HIGHLAND PAIR 514 Laurel Ave. R. l THOR WASHERS APEX CLEANERS Telephone 555 J. M.
