Exhibits Paintings at H. P. Woman‘s Club Leonore Smith Jerrems, is exhibitâ€" ing a group of paintings including still life, landscapes, and figures, at the Highland Park. Woman‘s club. Mrs. Jerrems‘ work has received many awards, including prizes at Chicago Artists‘ Show at Chicago Art Instiâ€" tute in 1928 and 1930, and a Union League prize in 1928. % Thursday, Dec. 18, 1980 Two of Mrs. Jerrems‘ paintings were hung in the American Artists‘ Show at the institute this fall, and at present, she has one in the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D. C. This most interesting exhibit will be on display ‘until Jan. 7. The American Legion conservatively estimates that 5,360 veterans are on the "waiting list" for hospitalization in Veterans‘ Bureau institutions, which are the best in the world'!o-r such cases. In addition, 7,217 is the estimate of the Bureau, a year ago, of veterans in state institutions, which are badly overcrowded. This makes the total now in need of government hospitalization, more than 12,000. The Legion is asking congress to construct 13,204 beds, which would provide for immediate future cases needing beds ‘by the time they can be available, in addition to taking care of the present load.
