There are now 95,782 scouts and 22,238 scouters (adult leaders) registered in 104. local councils in the four states and these are served by 158 full time scout exâ€" ecutives and assistants and field exâ€" ecutives. * in the council. Scouts who are makâ€" ing radio as a hobby and who have agreed to keep an active interest in radio and the activities of the Radio troop are now members. Some of the members have moved away and only six are left to carry on for the next year. Eight scouts must sign up before the troop can register and be given a new charter for 1931. Skidmore, who is the caretaker of the North Shore Area council Boy Scout Camp Makajawan and who lives on the 360 acre camp site property 17 miles from Elcho, Wisconsin, wrote some interesting news. In a recent letter to Mr. Myâ€" ron C. Roybolt, scout executive, Mr. Skidmore said, "The camps are fine. I shot a 10 point buck back of the Henry K. Urion, who lives at 1025 Hohawk road, Wilmette, was elected last week to membership on the Executive committee of Region 7, embracing the four states borderâ€" ing on Lake Michigan, Wisconsin, Iliinois, Indiana and Michigan. Urion A labor payroll of $80,000 to $90,â€" 00C is in prospect for Cairo, to beâ€" gin during the coming winter, accordâ€" ing to plans announced today for the construction, in that city, of a state armory for Co. K, 131st Infantry, Iâ€" ‘linois National Guard. Urging action }on all state construction projects to stimulate employment, Gov. Louis L. Emmerson has obtained assurances {from the state architect‘s office that bids on the project will be received February 3. It is probable that actuâ€" lal construction work will start in Febâ€" ruary. Mr. Charles A. Steele, 676 Greenâ€" wood avenue, Glencoe, was elected chairman of the Regional Camping committee of Region 7 of the Boy seouts of America at the Annual Regional meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Edgewater Beach hotel in Chicago. Mr. Steele has been chairman of the Camping committee of the North Shore Area council since the council was organized in December, 1926. His committee has handled the establishâ€" ment and building of Camp Makajaâ€" wan in Langlade county, Wisconsin. National officials commented most faâ€" vorably on this camp last summer. In his capacity as chairman of the Regional Camping committee Mr. Steele will have oversight and promoâ€" tion of Boy Scout camps in Region 7 comprising the four states of Wisconâ€" sin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
