Wright, Supt Acceptunce ~of Class ~of 1981 Major Schroeder, noted aviator and superintendent of the Sky Harbor airport was the speaker at the regâ€" ular luncheon session of the Highland Park Rotary club Monday noon, at the Moraine hotel. _ _Major Schroeder, who at one time held the â€"altitude record, which he made at great risk, referred to his experiences in his talk, which was heard with great interest and appreâ€" ciation by the members present. In making this record the major reached a height of 45,000 feet. There he lost consciousness, and his plane fell 36,000 feet before he regained his senses. His eyeballs were frozen and he had great difficulty in handlâ€" ing the controls. Finally he managed to level the plane off at 1,500 feet and made a safe landing. 4 The graduation exercises for Linâ€" coln and Ridge schools will be held on Friday evening June 12 at 8 o‘clock. A. R. â€"Inâ€"theâ€"presenceâ€"ofâ€"aâ€"largeâ€"crowd of interested people the Memorial Day dedicatory exercises of the D. A. R. Flagstaff took place as planned last Saturday morning at the Ravinia Station park despite the drizzling rain. From out of the distance came the military strains of the new Fife and Drum corps of the Dumaresq Spencer post of the American Legion, Then finally coming to a stand in front of the platform at the base of the flagstaff they stood at attention during the exercises. The fag was then raised by James Garnett, president of the C. A. R. soâ€" ciety, assisted by five other members, John Seyfarth, Parliament Peabody, Lucienne Reichardt, who held the flag during the ceremonies. Invocation was given by the Rev. Christopher Keller and short speechâ€"= es were made by Mrs. W. C. Egan, the pastâ€"regent who presented aâ€"flagâ€" staff to the city thirtyâ€"five years ago; Mrs. E. R. Phelps who originated the idea for the Ravinia flagstaff; and Mrs. J. F. Leaming who carried out the idea and formally presented the keys of the flag to Mr. Milton Hardâ€" acre, president of the East Park board. Mrs. R. L. Sandwick led the Salute to the Flag after which the regent, Mrs. Kellogg Speed, introduced Mayor E. B. Metzel who made a fitting and beautiful response for the town, emâ€" phasizing the thought of Honorable Peace. After the singing of America, led by Mr. Orrin Keller, accompanied on the cornet by George Hinn of the Boy Scouts, the services were brought to a close with the retirement of the Fife and Drum corps. The rain beâ€" ing then over they all separated for home and play. > F Tom Thumb Golf The Tom Thumb golf course in Deerfleld is open for play and many Highland Parkers will want to avail themselves of this pastime. Some new greens have been put in, and several minor changes for ‘the betterment of the course have been made. A reduction in playing charge has been made this year.
