Steele, a local man who has had considerable experience in producing home talent plays. The entire proâ€" seeds of the show will be kept at home. It has been the custom of the Post and other organizations to have outside concerns produce their plays for them, thus taking firty percent of the procedes out of town. It is considered by the: local Post that this is unfair to the local patrons of the affair, and since they have a man of proven ability along this line, it was thought only fair to have him direct the show, thus the Highwood Legion Post is preparing to give a home talent production in every sense of the wo;d. The American Legion‘s share of the show is to go to the erection of a Legion memorial home that will be large enough for use of the commuâ€" nity, for all special occasions, and also give the local post club rooms for their members. Stupeyâ€"Smith Post To Stage Minstrel While the minstrel show will be along old fashioned minstrel lines, there will be many new features inâ€" troduced, such as blackface Italian performers singing songs from Italâ€" ian operas, the Hill Billy orchestra of Highwood, as well as the Highâ€" wood Hill Billy barn dancers, and an American Legion theme will run through the entire show. Highwood is noted for its musical talent, and the very best of this has been promised for this show. Talent will be drawn from the best available of Highland Park and Highwood, and previous shows have proven that these cities have excellent local ulan‘.,“A feature of the affair will be an odâ€"fashioned minstrel parade (weather permitting) led by the Junix‘ ‘Bugle and Drum Corps of the local post.â€"Contributed. * 543 Elm Place Phone H. "Dr. May is the leading auâ€" thority on the subject of the scienâ€" tific approach to the measurement of character. His subject will be: "New Duties for Parents and Teachers." Â¥ . Of his play, Drinkwater himself says: "The purpose ofâ€"this play is not that of an historian but that of a dramatist. For dramatic purâ€" poses, many events were telescoped to sharpen‘ dramatic significance. The fictitious character of Burnett Hook was included for the purpose of embodying the antagonistic forces to Lincoln, and not wishing to atâ€" tach these to any historical charâ€" acter. The issue of secession is inâ€" tricate and: personal sympathy on either side was not taken in to conâ€" sideration by the author, the only concern being dramatic interest. The only thought was of the inspiring example of a man who handled war nobly and with imagination." Drinkwater‘s great â€" historical drama, "Abraham Lincoln" will have its only performance. on the North Shore next.
