Deerfleld Civic At the monthly meeting of the Deerfield Civic association held last Tuesday flnhghï¬onule room of the Deerfield school, the topic for discussion was ‘"The Deerficld Grammar School." Burton B. Mcâ€" Roy, president, had invited members of the school board and others inâ€" terested in school affairs, to tell the members the various functions, merits, etc., of the local institution of learning. C. W. Boyle, president of the board of directors, read his report of financial rating, which was publishâ€" ed recently in the Press. Raymond Meyer, another director, explained how representation of all village orâ€" ganizations at each meeting of the board could be substituted in place of the board of education, which many residents are working for. The Civic association is earnestly discussing the merits of a sevenâ€" PAGE TWELNE Edward R. Seese, president of the Deerffleldâ€"Shields high school board of education, gave a very interestâ€" ing talk, and very frankly stated that the Deerfield school was far from perfect, and explained that more cooperation and interest in the school were necessary. He also told how the Deerfield Students were takâ€" ing their places in scholastic and athletic ranks. He was unable to give out the information as to how the Deerfield school rated among all grade schools of the district, who send children to the high school. ‘This information, he explained, might be embarrassing to any school district, and sq that information was known only to the principals of the various schools, and the high school authorities. A membership drive for the P.â€"T. A. is being conducted by the school children, and Miss Jean Nygard, membership chairman, will award C., W. P. A., and N. Y. A The first meeting of the Deerfield Parentâ€"Teacher association will be held on Friday, October 8, at 2:45 p. m. in the school gymnasium. "Good Health, An Important Factor of Adequate Parenthood," is to be the topic of discussion. There will be short talks by Dr. C. R. Sugden, the school doctor; Mrs. Judith N.
