School closes that day for the holiday season. The Presbyterian Church School Christmas entertainment is being held on Thursday evening, Decemâ€" ber 23, at 7:80 o‘clock. At the conclusion of the program all the various departments will go to their respective rooms for their gifts and refreshments, DEERFIELD LOCALS St. Paul‘s Christmas parties for the children are scheduled next week as follows: Primairy ghilâ€" dren will assemble at the church on Monday afternoun with Mrs. George Weiss in charge; Beginners will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 28, with Mrs. Archie Antes supervising; Juniors will have their party on Wednesday with Mrs. F. G. Piepenâ€" brok and Mrs. George Meyer diâ€" recting the activities. There will be Christmas games, gifts and reâ€" freshments at all the parties and each will begin at 2 o‘clock in the afternoon. YULETIDE Around this season of the year there is always a discussion of the use of the words Xmas and Yuleâ€" tide for Christmas. The former is simply an abbreviation. The X being the Greek letter (Ch) that begins the name of Christ. Thus Christians in the average seminâ€" aries notebook is always written Xtians. Yule is an old Saxon word referring to the season of the year rather than having any connection with the feast.
