3 McKinlock Claim - Largest Entered The largest claim ever entered in Lake county is that filed against the estate of George Alexander McKinâ€" lock, Lake Bluff philanthropist and manufacturer, in the Probate court of Waukegan Mondayâ€"for $1,0938,â€" 625. Mr. McKinlock «died in Deâ€" cember, 1936. Denis E. Suilivan Jr., attorney for the estate, said that the claim will be confessed, but that the "full amount cannot be paid." Sullivan indicated that due to prior claims, the net value of the estate may be insufficient to cover the loans in W@mwbrrandinnetzge==â€".. _ «s The plaintiff in the recovery suit is the New England Mutual Life Insurance company of Boston, Mass, The company states that Mr. Mceâ€" Kinlock arranged two loans from the company, one for $390,000 and the other for $650,000â€"a total of $1,040,000. To this is added interâ€" est of $53,625 up to Nov. 1, 1937, for the grand total. PAGE The loans were secured by two pieces of property in the Loopâ€"the MceKinlock building ‘at 209 West Jackson street and the other desigâ€" nated as "elsewhere." The value of the catate &n givCl Lt the final approved inventory last September was $1,577,500. Of this, $513,000 was in cash and securities. The rest was real estate. The recovery suit came as further indication of a decline in Mr. Meâ€" Kinlock‘s estate. _ On Nov. 18, Northwestern university announced it was changing the name of its downtown campus from MeKinlock to the Chicago campus, and returnâ€" ing $155,717 previously received from Mr. McKinlock. The campus was named in honor of his son, Lieut. George A. McKinlock Jr., naval aviator killed in action in France, with Mr. McKinlock pledgâ€" ing $250,000 to the university. Cirâ€" cumstances beyond Mr. McKinlock‘s control made it impossible for him to.meet the pledge, and so the uniâ€" versity canceled it and returned the money already received.
