Earl~Toll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter ‘Toll of Deerfield, is one of 33 Cornell college students whose scholastic standing for the first seâ€" mester places him on the third bracket of the college honor roll. With an average representing a strong B, Toll will receive honorable mention. _ Indicative that Cornellâ€" ians are propressively attaining the highest scholastic standards set by the school, twelve students, a numâ€" ber larger than for several years, are recipients of high honors for an average of straight A. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rugen (Marâ€" jory Frost) entertained at a Valâ€" entine party on Sunday evening at their apartment at 701 Chestnut street. The Rugens are moving to the cottage on the Harry Wing property, which was vacated last fall by the S. P. Hutchisons, about the first of next month. On Sunday evening eighteen young people of the Deerfleld Presâ€" byterian church held a firegide meetâ€" ing at the home of Miss Mary Frances Anderson, at which time the group concluded the study of five of the World Religions. Those studied were Buddhism, Confucianâ€" ism, Hinduism, Christian Science, and Mormonism. After the meetâ€" ing a surprise party was held in honor of Howard Anderson‘s fourâ€" teenth birthday anniversary. Miss Mary Frances Anderson was hostess to her club on Saturday evening. Members of this group are Betty and Jane Krause, Gladys Ott, Ruth and Grace Herman, Lois Palmer, Florence Covington and the hostess, Mary Frances. Last week the club met at the home of Lois Palmer. A third employee heard Mr. Frost‘s cries for help, after he had dragged his companion to an open window and then collapsed.
