her departure for Europe was leadâ€" er of the High School Troop, has been a girl scout since she was ten years old. She then belonged to a Lincoln School Troop. At the age of eleven, she went to Camp Hickâ€" ory Hill. Later she was a camper in the Stevens Point Scout Camp. She has been a Junior Counsellor at "Wind in the Pines," a camp in Massachusetts, and a Senior Counâ€" sellor at Camp Hoffman, Providence, "Paris is wonderful. Already I am quite in love with it. The trip from the boat took us thru Brittany. It‘s Spring here, you know, and you can‘t imagine how beautiful this country is. It took four and oneâ€"half hours till I really got my fill of it. Also, on the train I had my first French meal. Everyone eats the same meal, no choice. First they go thru the whole car with hors d‘oeuâ€" vres. ‘The main course; then salad; then cheese and biscuit. Then the awfullest coffee! Talk about boilâ€" ing old shoes! No more coffee till the States. Mrs. Robert Clark, knowing that many would be interested, has given the following excerpt from a letter received from her daughter‘ The very first impression of the city of Paris, described as Dorothy does well. "From the station we went diâ€" rectly to the hotel. All across the city. Really, it‘s such a wonderful city. I‘m so happy. I really didn‘t like the boat at all, you know. (Mrs. Clark explained that Dorothy had been quite seaâ€"sick). "All of the streets are so narâ€" row. There are places where there are noâ€"sidewalks at all. Everyone is babbling French so fast that it makes me quite dizzy. We had luncheon at an extremely interestâ€" ing cafe and then went back to the hotel. We found a couple of rooms in a sort of a hotel called L‘Angâ€" lon. Very nice and convenient for us. Everything is so old in Paris. Old, elegant, and very dark. Also everything is very high pitchedâ€" the language, horns, whistles, bells, etc. Very different sounds than we are used to. Last night I took a taxi by myself all across the city to attend a class. We went to the Louvre. It‘s all quite wonderful. "Went to Lux’:burg Gardens Mond&y, and saw the most adorâ€" able children. We wandered all thru ‘till tea time and had tea at a charming place near the garden, out on the sidewalk. "Went downtown. Alexine met a friend and while she was talkâ€" ing, ‘I~ wandered around and got quite lost.‘ I didn‘t even know the name of the street where the buildâ€" ing was, where I had left them, so I traced my way back and finally found her, much relieved. (Alexine‘ is Miss Clark‘s music teacher.) THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 19838 "Oh, gee, the French maid just came into the room. I get purple every time anyone shouts French at me. However, I‘m not doing too badly. I‘m catching it fairly well and maybe in 50 years I‘ll be able to speak this babble. Alexine has a friend who has a house in the country where â€" we are going to GIRLE SCOUTS Miss Dorothy Clark, who before This is jbg LTime to pep up your carl with a Scientific Motor ~@ Differential © Tire Repaire © Greasing All Workmanship Guaranteed. ‘This shop is not on piece work basis, © Carburetors / © Brakes Reline © Batteries Rec © Valve Recond © Transmission © Differential ®© Tire Repairs Chris Auto Repair Service CHRYSLER PRODUCTS 515 Laurel Avenue Phone H. Dorothy is going to Belgium, Amâ€" sterdam, England and then back to Paris. She is combining sightâ€"seeâ€" ing with a very extensive and strenâ€" uous course of piano and voice trainâ€" ing and coaching, Mrs. Clark has promised more news later, Not only is it nice to hear from Dorothy, but it is interesting and amusing to get her spontaneous impressions and reactions.
