PAGE TEN HVALE FORGE The blacksmith shop east of the Deerfleld depot has been leased by Leander Hvale and his son, James, for their artistic shop, "Hvale Forge." The building, of good lines and fine possibilities, is to be paintâ€" ed white and will have green shutâ€" ters. Peter Kamminga, the pres ent occupant, will continue to have his blacksmith shop there, also. The Hvales started their shop in their own home just as a hobby but the business has increased to such proâ€" portions that they are now taking a big shop. Mr. and Mrs. Hvale and family moved on Saturday from the attractive rustic house on Mill road owned by King Wooten and are now living in Lake Bluff. Fireâ€"broke out in the former Knickerbocker house on Waukegan road on Saturday afternoon and the entire roof and upper part of the house were damaged. Mrs. Marâ€" garet McGarvie had recently sold the house to Harry E. Wing. It had been made ready for May first occupancy and the rubbish was beâ€" ing burned in the furnace. Sparks caught the roof on fire and spread rapidly to the entire upper part of of the house. A defective chimney was the cause of the fire and the loss is estimated at $2500. Mr. and Mrs. W, R. Turgeon of Park Ridge, who were to have moved in on May first, will take one of the Wing apartments on Deerfleld road until repairs are completed. The loss is fully covered by insurance. ; FIRE PLAY TOMORROW NIGHT The Stagers, Deerfleld Dramatic Society, will present the third and last of this year‘s series of plays tomorrow evening, May 6, in the Deerfield Grammar School gymnasâ€" ium. A cast of twelve has been carefully rehearsed for "Men Must Fight" which promises to be inâ€" teresting and capably staged. Curâ€" tain time is 8:15. MOVING DAYS A. L. The Winfield Nevins family moved to Rosemary Terrace to the Edwin Beckman house vacated by the Olen Olmsteads. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Roberts are moving from Clay street to the house on Hazel aveâ€" nue vacated by the Nevins. The G. O. Covingtons who have been living at 940 Forest avenue lre} moving to Mundelein. Mr. and. Mrs. Hubert Juhrend are occupying their home on Oakley avenue which has been recently vacated by the Fred Glovers, The Charles A. Biscunas family will move to Round Lake this week. There will be an amateur show at the Deerfield Grammar School on Friday evening, May 20, under the sponsorship of the Deerfield chapâ€" ter of the Eastern Star. Ten dolâ€" lars in cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. All entries must be in May 16, so that the program can be arranged. Harold R. Vant is in charge of the show and all those desiring to enter are asked to notify him. 5 & St. P. R.R. was broken into last Sunday evening and an express package valued at $150 was stolen. The safe, weighing half a ton, had been moved to the middle of the room, but had not been opened. It contained only tickets and the use of any of these would have meant certain capture. Years ago a loâ€" cal young man was caught, followâ€" ing the robbing of the depot, beâ€" emuse he disposed of a stolen railâ€" road ticket. Four windows in the station were broken during the robâ€" bery. DEPOT ROBBED _ ‘The Deerfleld depot of the C. M TOWNSHIP CONTROL AMATEUR SHOW A convention is being held in Danville this week from Wednesâ€" day through Friday where the pending legislation of state or local control of relief will be discussed by Township Supervisors. A speâ€" cial session of the legislature is being called by Governor Horner in about two weeks at which time it is expected that a merger of all relief agencies will be considered. Lake county supervisors do not apâ€" prove the plan of county and state control, and many other counties also disapprove. Supervisor W. W. Steele of Deerfield township is a member of the Lake county delegaâ€" tion now at Danville. Supervisor James O‘Connor of West Deerfield township, in an interview on Monâ€" day stated that he was satisfied with the present administration of reâ€" lief. A rummage sale is to be held in the vacant store at the northeast corner of Deerfield and Waukegan roads, in the Telephone building, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursâ€" day, May 10, 11 and 12.
