Grubmeier in Main Event at Grayslake Von Schacht to Meet h;rldrlek Von lehahc:t. 6 foot 6 German t who outroughed King Kong ur;:nbh«l the famous bearded Abyssinian wildâ€"man into submission last week, will meet Freddy "Legs" Grubmier, lanky lowa scissors expert, in one of the main events of the weekly wrestling card to be staged in Peg‘s Graysâ€" Jake Arena Friday night. Original plans had it that Jim McMillen was to meét the winner, but when the German giant upset the dope and whipped the heretoâ€" fore unbeatable King Kong, McMilâ€" len backed down on his agreement and refused to meet Von Schacht. Incidentally Von Schacht is one of the few pros in the game ever to beat McMillen so many believe the local star evaded Von Schacht rather than to be beat here before all of his friends and neighbors. Grubâ€" mier, however, should give Von Schacht a tough going over as his famous scissors is dreaded by all in the sport. PAGE EIGHT The other main event on. this twin feature is between the great ble, toughest of the famous five Schnable brothers. A few weeks ago Ruffy beat Otto Schnable at Graysâ€" lake so Hans has stepped to the fore to avenge brother Otto‘s defeat, and insists that Otto setond him into the ring. Last week Ruffy beat Rudy Kay at Grayslake in a sensaâ€" tional match so fans can expect a real thriller when Schnable the German strongman, tangles with Silverstein, the Jewish sensation. Bobby made his first appearance here in more than a year last week winning over the clever Ralph Garibaldi, and hundreds will turn out to see Bruns in action against Mansor this week. The preliminary match pits El Sayre, Waukeganite football and wrestling star against Otto Schnaâ€" ble. Sayre is undefeated as a pro and will get a real test from the German heavyweight star. Otto F. Fisher, the general chair-‘ man of the carnival was assisted by a committee consisting of Paul Muzik, Roy Russell, Harvey Reber, and J, E. Enquist. ‘ The committee is very grateful to the many local merchants who reâ€" sponded so generously in donating prizes for the registration booth and also wishes to take this opporâ€" tunity to thank each and every one who contributed in any way and who coâ€"operated in helping make the carnival a success. All proceeds deâ€" rived from this event will be used for a very worthy cause. â€" grim reaper shows no regard for youth, asserts the Illinois Automoâ€" bile club, hor does he have respect for the aged or infirmâ€"and he nevâ€" er rests. The noises of traffic give constant warning of its hazards for pedestrians and motorists. Heed them. . A Moment of Caution May Save a Lifetime of Regret. Like oaks from acorns, great forâ€" est fires from .little sparks may grow, warns the Illinois Automoâ€" bile club. Tourists and campers should exercise extreme care with campfires; they should be built no larger than necessary in a wellâ€" cleared place and every spark exâ€" tinguished before the campers leave. Matches, cigar and cigarette stubs and pipe tobacco should be OUT before thrown away. The grave yard is filled with drivers‘ who had the rightâ€"ofâ€"way. Will Real Estate *HB PEEBs in Key Is Memento of Early Court House A key to an early Illinois courtâ€" house remains as the only reminder of an incident long since forgotten. It is on display in a museum at Watseka, Iroquois county, research workers of the Federal Writers‘ Project, W.P.A., have learned. According to accounts, a pioneer charged â€"with counterfeiting, who was placed in the old wooden strucâ€" ture in 1861 to await triatl, escaped into the corridor during the night of Feb. 25, 1862, when through an oversight his cell was left unlocked. Not knowing that the courthouse door had been recently lined with iron, he set fire to it, hoping to gain his freedom. The fire got out of control, however, trapped the prisoner, who lost his life, and burned the building completely. The key to the cell door, which was in the possession of the jailer at the time of the fire ,was preâ€" served. Warn Boatsmen of Target Practice at Groat Lakos J. W. Gregory, commander U. S. Navy, District Intelligence office, has issued the following warning to all owners of boats in the vicinity of Great Lakes. The Fleet Marine Corps Reserve will conduct 37 mm. gun practice on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 11, at the U. S. Naval Training Station, Great Lakes. The target raft is moored 1200 yards off shore to the eastward and 300 yards north of the power plant at Great Lakes. Card of Thanks I wish to express to our many friends my heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the love and sympathy shown to me in my bereavement. Mrs. John O‘Keefe Safety Slant It is sad but true, says the Illiâ€" nois‘ Automobile club, but traffic statistics show that out of the averâ€" age sixty accidents, where the speed is 30 miles per hour, there is one person killed, while at 50 miles per ho@r the mortality rate increases to one fatality for every eighteen mishaps. Moral: Why go 50 when 30 will get you there just about as quickly and almost four times as safely.
