School Patrol Is Formed to Protect Deerfleld Children to aid in the problem of protecting The Deerfidd Grammar this week formed a school traffic dangers at some of our inâ€" and use of playground. The patrol is being organized and planned by the eighth grade boys of the school and is sponsored by the Chicago Motor Club. All the details and investigation is being carried out by the boys in the eighth grade No boy will be permitted to take part in the patrol boy activities his parents and no boy will be so situated that there will be any trafâ€" fic danger to the patrol boy. Careâ€" ful instruction will be given these boys as to the duties and responâ€" sibilities of a patrol officer, It is hoped that all the residents of the village will aid us by cooperating in every way possible with the school patrol. A thorough discussion of the proâ€" posed park system for Deerfield will be one of the principal features of the September meeting of the Deerâ€" field Civic Association Board of Directors scheduled for Tuesday "evening, Sept. 27, at the Town Hall. A representative of the Chamber of Commerce committee sponsoring the plan will be present to outline the details worked out to date. Inâ€" asmuch as none of the meetings are restricted to board members only, any resident of the Village is welâ€" come to attend. t The association is inaugurating a plan this week to welcome all the new residents to the Village, under a plan worked out by a committee under the chairmanship of E. B. Crush. As soon as the name of new residents are verified, a letter of welcome accompanied by a printed form containing the names of the churches and their pastors, various utilities, civic and fraternal organâ€" izations, schools, the library, and other items of interest to newcomâ€" .es, will be sent to each family. It is hoped that such a letter will betâ€" ter acquaint the newcomers with Village facilities. The patrol is also planning a program of additional activities to be carried on by the class members, talks, demonstrations, and lectures will be held in class rooms. Scout Troops Start Yearly Programs During the summer many of the troops discontinue their activities or operate a loose program, due to the fact that most of the Scouts are at camp or on vacation.
