During this summer she has been doing graduate work at the University of Colorado. Miss Virginia Sproul of Quincy, IIl., has been employed as music teacher at Elm Place school for this year. Miss Sproul received the Masâ€" ter of Arts degree in Music at the University of Michigan this sumâ€" mer. Her thesis was an operetta which received honors rating. Miss Sproul has taught music at Carthâ€" age college, and in the public schools of Earlville, III.; Preston, Iowa, and Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. . She"comes to Highland Park from Wauwatosa. Miss Alice Beyer has been emâ€" ployed to teach English in the 8th grade. Miss Beyer received her Master of Arts degree from Northâ€" western university this summer, During last year she did internship teaching at Maine Township High school. Miss Alice Meyers, who has been teaching 4th grade at the Elm Place school for the past 21 years, has just resigned. Her resignation was due to the necessity of her goâ€" ing home to Florence Station, IIl., to take care of an invalid sister. Miss Dorothy Roberts of TIola, Kansas, has been secured to take Miss Meyer‘s place. Miss Roberts has attended Kansas City university and the University of Colorado. She has been teaching in the Iola, Kanâ€" sas, public schools for several years. H. Price, superintendent of School District 107, has just reâ€" turned from Boulder, Colorado, where he has been teaching graduâ€" ate courses in school administration at the University of Colorado. _ The buildings and grounds of both the Elm Place and Greenbay woad schools are in excellent condiâ€" tion for the opening of school. The gymnasium, the lunch room, the four 8th grade class rooms, and the teachers‘ rest room in the primary building have been completely and attractively reâ€"decorated. New cabâ€" inets and bulletin boards have been installed in many rooms. New desks have been purchased for one 7th grade room. A new curtain for the auditorâ€" ium, purchased partly by the 1940 8th grade class gift, will be installed by the time school opens. This fine gift of the class will add greatly to the attractiveness of the auditorium. Parents are urged to have their children ready for school on the opening day. Pupils will secure thoir chemical from the reagent bottles kept on the reagent shelves in the laboratory. A special acid table is used for the dispensing of strong acids and bases. A steady stream of water flushes off the top of this table at all times when the laboraâ€" tory is in use. A shower bath and several first aid kits are also availâ€" able.
