Two Petitions Ask Detachment from School Districts The â€" Deerfieldâ€" West â€" Deerfield Township school trustees will have two petitions to consider when they meet on Monday evening, Oct. 7. The trustees are Herbert Lautmann and Henry Siljestrom of Highland Park, Ralph Peterson, Deerfield, and William Dooley of Highland Park, school treasurer. One petition bearing signatures of residents of North Ridge road, now a part of Highland Park, asks separation _ from _ the Deerfield Grammar School district and the other petition is by residents of Woodland Park subdivision requestâ€" ing detachment from the Wilmot school. Ridge road residents want their ch.ldren to go to the Ridge school in Highland Park, because they live in that city and Woodland Park, a part of the village of Deerâ€" field, wants to be annexed to the vilâ€" lage of Bannovkburn. Each section, in asking separation from its presâ€" ent district, presents a serious fâ€" nancial loss to its respective disâ€" triet. When Bannockburn ceded, the Wilmot chool lost oneâ€"fourth of its assessed valuation. This is the third section of Highland Park askâ€" &b break away from the Deerâ€" Grammar school. Jacobson. Rev. J. C. Leuder Dies; Was Former Deerfield Pastor The Rev. John C. Lueder, who was the oldest Evangelical Lutherâ€" an minister in the U. S, died Tuesâ€" day, Sept. 17, in the German Deaâ€" coness hospital, Chicago. He was 93 years old. Educated in Germany, the Rev. Dr. Lueder came to this country in 1870 and began his minâ€" istry at Beaver Bay, Minn., in 1872. After that he occupied pastorates at Crown Point and Michigan City, Ind., and Deerfield. From Deerfield (he was pastor here during the World War) he went to Elmhurst, where for 29 years he was professor of dead lanâ€" guages at Elmhurst college. He was professor emeritus at the time of his death. Since retiring the Rev. Dr. Lueder has made his home at 9955 Charles street, Chicago. Surâ€" viving are three sons, Arthur C. Lueder, former Chicago postmaster and now Republican candidate for state auditor; John T. of Chicago and George of Elmhurst; seven grandchildren and eight grandchilâ€" dren, Funeral services were held Friâ€" day at St. Peter‘s church in Elmâ€" hurst and burial was at Elm Lawn. Hallowe‘en night, October 31, is to be a very important date for both the adults and the children of Deerâ€" field this year. That evening the PTA is sponsoring a Hallowe‘en Carnival to be held at the Deerâ€" field Grammar school. The children are discussing the plans in Student Council and in their rooms, and will bring their suggesâ€" tions back to the PTA committee. ‘The plans include serving dinner at the school on Hallowe‘en night. The climax will be a special proâ€" gram in the school auditorium. ‘The final in the series of PTA grade meetings was held last night, Thursday, Sept. 26, at 8 o‘clock. This meeting was held for the parents of children in the 6th, Tth and 8th grades.
