Commander George Abernathy‘s daughter Arline and Mary Casorio came direct from taking part in Miss. Agnes Daly‘s dance recital at the Highland Park Woman‘s club to do a smart specialty tap number for the enthusiastic veterans. Their work with those silver canes was something to behold. Strictly a homeâ€"folk party it was, with a thoroughly enjoyable floor show, plenty of dancing, a tasty buffet supper prepared under the capable direction of Sunset Valley‘s chef d‘ cuisine, Mrs. Mason. _ According to Harry E. Eichler, chairman of the party committee, funds raised at the party will go toâ€" ward promotion of the Boys Legion Drum and Bugle Corps, and other Legion activities. ‘The 140 Legionâ€" naires, with their families and friends, saw to it that the party was a financial success. * A good time with a commendable purpose behind it was the motivatâ€" ing factor in that grand spring parâ€" ty held by the Dumaresq Spencer Post of the American Legion at the Sunset Valley Golf club last Saturâ€" day evening. ; SATURDAY‘S LEGION PARTY PROVES SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR PAGE FOUR Legion Auxiliary 7 percent no stop ‘light; 2 percent needed wheels aligned; 2 percent had no tail light, and 2 percent no parking lights. Ravinia School Wins Satety Week Contest; Legion Gives Award The seventh grade class of Raâ€" vinia school, under the direction of Miss Sinkler won the grade school safety contest, conducted during Highland Park Safety Week. They won the contest with an average of 283 per pupil with a grand total of 12.175 votes for safety pledges. An elaborate engraved placque, â€" doâ€" nated by the American Legion, was presented them by Mayor Frank Ronan at a brief ceremony, Wedâ€" nesday morning.
